Hello, This is Yong Kwon. It’s been 15 years since my 2-year-old son, my wife, and I set foot in the United States without any connections. Looking back now, it was a reckless challenge, but I believe that challenge has provided a foundation for my two children to create the life they want to live, as we have established ourselves in the U.S. and now run an accounting firm. I am convinced that when “challenge” and “passion” combine, they create great energy and produce a rewarding outcome. That was my experience. 20 years ago, when I was preparing for the AICPA, everyone told me it would be better to get a job quickly. 15 years ago, when I quit my job at KAMCO (Korea Asset Management Corporation) and went to study in the United States with my family, people around me warned that it would be difficult to return to a place like the company I had worked for. Each time, I encouraged myself and took on the challenge with passion and hard work. Fortunately, I achieved results different from what everyone worried about, and I gained some pride and confidence. Effort never betrays you; sometimes, the results are just delayed. If you are currently contemplating your future, I would like to tell you to boldly trust yourself and move forward courageously. 안녕하세요? 저는 권용석입니다. 2살된 아들과 아내와 셋이서 아무 연고도 없는 미국에 발을 디딘지 벌써 15년이 지났습니다. 지금 돌이켜보면 무모한 도전이었지만 그래도 그 도전이 지금은 이곳 미국에서 자리를 잡고 회계법인을 경영하며 두아이들이 자신들이 하고싶은 삶의 모습을 만들어 갈 수 있는 토대를 마련하였다고 생각합니다. “도전”과 “열정” 이 두가지가 결합하면 큰 에너지를 만들고 “보람”이라는 결과물을 만들어 낸다고 확신합니다. 저는 경험적으로 그랬습니다. 20여년전 제가 AICPA 준비할 때 모두들 빨리 취업을 해야 한다고 말렸습니다. 15년전 잘 다니던 공기업 직장을 그만두고 가족을 데리고 미국으로 유학간다고 했을때도 주변에서는 다시 돌아와도 당시 다니던 공기업같은 곳 다시 들어가기 힘들다며 말렸습니다. 그때마다 저 자신에게 용기를 불어넣었고 도전했고 열정을 가지고 열심히 했습니다. 다행히도 모두들 우려하던 결과와 다른 결과를 얻었고 나름의 자부심과 자신감이 생겼습니다. 노력은 배신하지 않습니다. 조금 늦은 결과가 있을 뿐 입니다. 지금 자신의 미래에 대해 고민하신다면 저는 과감하게 자신을 믿고 담대히 나아가시라고 말씀드리고 싶습니다. “열정”이 추가된다면 지금은 내가 생각하지 못하는 더 좋은 선물을 받으실겁니다. 시작하시죠!
